Type-Z Tahzelli

It is a lost prototype from the last days of the Second Martian Independence War. Designed to attack surface installations from Earth's orbit, it draws power from the sun using ten Fold Light Wings. These serve numerous functions from providing propulsion, to collection energy, to acting as shields. Offensively, the frame is quite flexible. It's body is composed of a nanite flesh layered over a skeletal Fold Frame allowing it to shift and evolve to suit combat needs. These nanites can even be used remotely over short distances... Though their effectiveness decreases with range.

After the Second MI War, such weapons received serious sanctions due to their abilities to adapt and evolve on their own and this model was lost before it could see combat.

Found decades later on Mars' moon Phobos, The Type-Z would eventually realize the hundred year dream of Martian Independence when it dealt the final blow to the Space Fortress Shallow Serenity. Afterwards the machine is once again lost to history as were it's pilot Nathaniel Crowe and Erika Torez, a fellow pilot.

Some obvious draws come from Evangelion. Though I also borrow from Zone of the Enders.
